Why watch this film?
In Star Trek: Section 31, Emperor Philippa Georgiou s a secret division of Starfleet tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets, and must face the sins of her past.
"A mix of Suicide Squad and Mission: Impossible, Star Trek: Section 31 might be the least “Star Trek-like” movie in the franchise. Directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi (from the Discovery series), the film follows a team of outlaws coming together in an unlikely scenario. The most recognizable member of the group is Empress Philippa Georgiou, a relentless character in the saga, once again played by Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All At Once) in an absolutely over-the-top performance. The movie has a few fun moments here and there, always chasing redemption for its characters and storyline. However, it’s likely to disappoint the most hardcore Star Trek fans, as the story simply fails to hold up—even in its brief 95-minute runtime. Let’s be honest: Star Trek: Discovery is much better."
