"Director and screenwriter Richard Linklater (who would later become known for 'Boyhood') takes a very simple premise in 'Before Sunrise': two strangers who bump into each other on a train in Europe and decide to spend the night together in beautiful Vienna. He (Ethan Hawke) is an American boy carefree with life, traveling aimlessly after getting dumped. She (Julie Delpy) is a French girl with certain ideals. From there, we fall in love with these two real characters, so believable, thanks to Linklater's accurate script, which leaves gimmicks aside and just puts Jesse and Celine walking through the streets, getting to know each other, falling in love and making the audience fall in love with this instant ion. It's hard not to sigh in some scenes that have already become classics of cinema, such as the averted looks in the record store or the imaginary telephone game in the restaurant. It's a simple movie, with great performances by Hawke and Delpy, that makes us travel not only through Austria, but also through the infinite possibilities of love."
