The Dragon Warrior has to clash against the savage Tai Lung as China's fate hangs in the balance. However, the Dragon Warrior mantle is supposedly mistaken to be bestowed upon an obese panda who is a novice in martial arts.
"After making a success with the animals of 'Madagascar' and the fairy tale characters of 'Shrek', Dreamworks bet on the universe of oriental martial arts with the fun 'Kung Fu Panda'. Although it does not reach the feet of the other two successes mentioned here, the film should enchant the little ones with the story of Po, a panda who begins to venture into the learning of kung fu with a group of specialists - formed, of course, also by animals. There is not the same sagacity of 'Madagascar', nor a search to please children and adults as in 'Shrek'. The feeling is that directors Mark Osborne and John Stevenson bet more on a simple and delicate plot, although full of references, to please children and become a profitable product to the studio. But that's okay. 'Kung Fu Panda' still has its grace and fun."
