"The Ballad of Wallis Island is a fun and emotional British comedy that music lovers will enjoy, not only for its theme but also for its nods to the history of Buckingham Nicks, eventual of Fleetwood Mac. The story follows an eccentric man (Tim Key) who lives alone on the remote Wallis Island, and after losing his wife and winning the lottery, decides to hire one of his and his wife's favorite musicians, Herb McGwyer (Tom Basden), for a private concert on the island, just for him. The weary Herb accepts the job for the money to revive his erratic career after separating from Nell Mortimer (Carey Mulligan), his ex-partner and bandmate, with whom he reached success and who, unknowingly, is also invited to the concert. From here, an emotional story unfolds about rediscovering feelings and reconnecting with ion and creativity, even if things don’t always go as planned."
