Why watch this film?
A late-night boat ride turns into a desperate fight for survival in New York City when a mischievous mouse becomes a monstrous reality.
"Screamboat is one of those films that takes advantage of a beloved work entering the public domain to get a quick buck. In this case, it’s another horror movie featuring Mickey Mouse, made possible by the fact that the animated short where the character debuted, Steamboat Willie (1928), has entered the public domain. The plot follows a group of people trapped on a ferry in New York, where a violent, bloodthirsty mouse has been unleashed. Being totally honest, the acting is poor, the narrative creativity is non-existent, and the humor ranges from childish to misogynistic, but if you’re curious to see Mickey doing things you never imagined, you might have some fun with this one."
