Why watch this film?
September: a month of changing direction, earthquakes, coming together and disagreements in the universe of a second-grade classroom in México.
"Cracked (La falla) is a Mexican documentary by filmmaker Alana Simões that addresses the challenges faced by education in rural areas of Mexico, focusing on the story of a teacher and her final days with her students in a village in Jalisco. While critical of the situation, it avoids exploitation by giving voice to the children themselves, shedding light on socioeconomic marginalization and gender inequality through their experiences. The documentary is also inspiring, showcasing the great efforts of a dedicated teacher and the beautiful outcomes of her vocation. La falla received a special jury mention at the 2024 Morelia Film Festival."
